This is called a soft chirp feature.  Its something my alarm system 
lacks, and I wish I had.  When you arm/disarm, it chirps pleasantly and 
quietly, but when some thug sets it off, it'll blare with all it might.  
This would be a useful feature in my neighborhood.  Every time I 
arm/disarm the alarm, it sets off all the neighborhood dogs.  Definately 
a PITA late at night!
