Yep, my '92 100S does the same. In fact, it does it for the passenger's door
and the trunk lock too. It is part of the alarm system for my car. In fact,
it is the horn for when the alarm "trips" as well. I am not too thrilled
with the fact that it is not REAL loud (i.e why not use the regular horn?),
but I am guessing they did it out of courtesy to some degree for when it
falses in the middle of the night (although this has never happened to me!)?
I suppose it is also as an extra measure of security so that if a thief were
to disable the car's horn, thinking the alarm was tied into it, he/she would
be wrong, and the system would still sound? Just a guess.....
I am guessing that you have the same type of alarm setup.
