91 200q dies on me

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anybody else have seen this problem: the engine in my
91 200q frequently dies when coasting along in traffic, e.g. when
rolling up to a light with my foot of the gas (i.e. the engine has
coasted down to idle speed).

If it's not a common condition (you never know...), what would I be
looking for to fix this problem? It's fairly scary to think of my wife
and 5-month old having the power steering cut out in the middle of some
curve (or, God forbid, a left turn through an intersection)...
