... I ignored the original post, but I noticed here that it might be
possible that your vacuum booster for the brakes has gone kaput. If
you think that might be the case, and if your car is compatible with
a 1984 4000Q, then you ought to get in touch with Carl DeSousa RIGHT
AWAY! He has a wrecked 4kQ that has an almost brand new vacuum booster
that I don't think anyone asked for ... and it's about to go to the
wrecking yard! His address is:

and he has posted this info to the list in the past couple of weeks.
You may want to ask someone else if they think that this may be your
problem ... I haven't heard the clunk/sproing or tested your brakes ...
