metal v. plastic radiators

I've been calling around for the best price on a metal radiator to 
replace the plastic beast with the broken neck in my 5ks.  When I 
called Shokan I was told that the metal radiators suffer shoddy 
construction and are even less reliable than the OEM plastic ones.  
Anyone care to comment on that?

Also, does anyone in Michigan (Graydon?) have a preferred source for 
metal radiators?  Any leads on used ones?
