Hood Protection

This brings up a thought - and I'm catching up on mail, so 
excuuuuuuse me if this has already been mentioned - if your concern 
is the first 1 or 2" of hood, why not seal up any holes and have one 
of the trim places put a color-matched tape over the leading edge?  

Another thought:  if one could find a  size close-matched to the hood, I'd 
bet a heat gun would allow one to modify one of those clear hood 
protectors.  They're heat shaped in the first place.  If one found a 
broken clear protector in a wrecking yard, it would make good 
practice material......
