Extended Warranty for 88 5000 w/ 64k miles

Hi, netters,

I am thinking about replacing my aging 85 4000 s with 88 5000
auto tranny.  One car I saw, has perfect body, and low mile at
64 k miles.  my only concer is that the auto tranny works funny
when it shift from 2nd to 3rd.  is there ANY extended warrnty
sources for such an old cars?  or where shall I turn for such a
major cover like tranny?  thanks in advance.
