Armor All, Synthetic Transmission Fluid, Synthetic Engine Oil

In response to a couple of posts:

ARMOR ALL

I agree that Armor All is not a great product, for interior use, I use ZYMOL
Vinyl. It is a great product! You can do the interior of your car and the same
day put your hand on it, and it won't feel like you just dipped it in the oil
pan that you just dropped the oil plug bolt in.

If you haven't tried the other ZYMOL products, such as their wax, you need to.
Before you wax the car, you use a product called HD Cleanse, it is applied after
you wash the car. It is rubbed on over a small area, then buffed with a clean
towel. It removes the top oxide layer of dead paint. It takes about two hours
to do a 5K and a lot of elbow grease. It has consistency of a watery mud. Then
you wax the car, because it is so clean, it takes about 20-30 minutes. Your
garage will smell like carnauba wax for weeks!

This stuff isn't cheap, for a starter set (wax, 8 oz of HD cleanse, 8 oz of
vinyl, 8 oz of the car wash and a terry cloth) is about $80. I have a red 87 5K
with 170,000 miles and people cannot believe how good it looks. It will remove
almost all oxidation from almost any car.

SYNTHETIC TRANSMISSION FLUID

I found it very interesting that someone posted that Audi's came with synthetic
transmission and differential fluid. I changed mine for the first time at 130K,
and as soon as I did, the shifting became notchy. This also occurred in my BMW
at about 110K (I replaced that with Red Line). Neither performed nearly as well
as original. I still haven't figured that one out.

SYNTHETIC MOTOR OIL

I've been using Mobil 1 since about 70K on my 5K. It now has 170K on it. The
inside of the engine is absolutely, incredibly clean! One lifter started making
noise continuously at about 70K. I then changed to Mobil 1, and it goes away
until I have 3-5K on the oil. I change the oil, it goes away after a minute or
two of operation. I highly recommend it. From a scientific standpoint on
lubricants, it is definitely a superior lubricant to normal because of its
atomic structure. I can vouch that it does not leave any sludge in the engine,
it definitely cleans it!
