New Audi Commercial

        Hey guys,

I know some of you saw this add a month or so ago, but I just saw it
the other day. It is kinda targeting the possible Sport Ute owners, saying th
at Quattro is a true 4WD for road use. Well, anyways, it features two guys in
a Sport Ute and they are lost and trying to look at this map, when they make a
turn, put down the map, and find that they are at an Audi dealership. Then the
dialog says something to the extent to find your nearest Audi dealer and check
out the new A4 QUattro, and then there is a product shot of the A4. End of com
mercial. I thought it was a good commercial, and had a good target audience.

Anyways, I also remember someone who saw the commercial was wonderin
g what kind of Sport Ute that was in the commercial. Well, I know what it is,
so I figured I'd inform others. It is a Laforza. A what? Yup, a Laforza. Th
ey were very limited production made from like '90-'92 and sold at select Lotus
and Ferrari dealers accross the country. They were also pretty expensive; arou
nd $60K. But, these cars were built in Italy by Pinninfarina on the same assme
bly line that the Ferrari Testarossa bodies were made on. They also had a beau
tiful Italian glovesoft leather interior (much like Ferraris) and burlwood acce
nts. Laforzas also came equiped with a 4WD drivetrain and a heavy-duty suspens
ion, and a Ford OHV302 V-8 engine with a decent amount of HP! Oh, they also ha
d premium sound systems, pwr everything, pwr sunroofs, and were more geared for
on-road cruising. Unfortunately, Laforzas didn't sel well and they stopped mak
ing them sometime in '92. It seems to me that they were before thier time. If
they had only been around a few years later, they probably would have been very
desirable and sold well. Oh well. They can be had used for around $30K and mo
st are like brand new with very low miles. If I had to drive a Sport Ute, the L
aforza would be my first choise....and, IMHO, they are much better than the und
erpowered and overpriced MB G-wagons. I also heard rumors that some Laforzas w
ere turbocharged and were real screamers! Hmmm, interesting!!! Well, anyways,
I just thought that was interesting and I just thought I'd share that with y'al
l in case any others on this list were wondering what type of car that was.
