Re: tqc/4000q susp&brake swap

In a message dated 96-04-03 21:53:01 EST, you write:

FWIW, the rear brgs are the same 4kq and TQC, it's the fronts that're
different...

The rear balljoints are also the same as long as the TQC is Chassis#
85D900582 on up.

Don't know if the caliper carriers will bolt up, but you'll lose your e-brake
in the process if that's a concern...

" My real question is this, What are the chances that
the front calipers and carriers and vented rotors from the front of
the 4k be swapped to the rear of said 4000q?
Anybody investigated this or better yet done it?"

I'm not convinced that the benefits are worth the hassles, If you swap the
fronts for TQC bits, you gain some good braking options. The rear brakes are
along for the ride in that app anyway. Upsizing the rears doesn't seem worth
it without an adjustable proportioning valve to control the bias. With
functioning 4000q rear calipers, aggresive pads, drilled rotors, and adj
bias; you'll have stopping power to rival the big dogs.

Also, as Ben pointed out, it's far easier to source 4000q replacement
struts/inserts than TQC stuff...

Is this for your road car, Todd?

Hope this helps,
