Starship rotors & drilling

I, too was under the impression that cross-drilling rotors was done for
cooling purposes.

A 2 wheeler-enthusiast friend recently showed me an article in a cycle mag
where they claimed there was little or no cooling benefit from
cross-drilling. They claimed that the main benefit of cross-drilling is
increased braking power under extreme conditions. According to this
article, the holes act like a cheese grater, shaving off the surface of the
pad (which may get glazed under extreme conditions) exposing "fresh"
friction material to rub on the flat surface of the rotor.

Seems like there still might be an indirect cooling benefit by having the
brakes work better and therefore be used less. Your guess is good as mine.
