I do remember the TV coverage of the unintended acceleration
fiasco.  Audi had the highest or the second highest potential
idle (I don't remember exactly, Mercedes was the other) setting
of cars with idle stabilizers.  But, this is idle speed, an
unloaded engine.  The engine won't idle anywhere near the 4800
RPM maximum idle speed if the car is in gear.  I'm just guessing,
but I bet that full idle is only good for 5 MPH or so, maybe 10
if you let it go long enough.  Hardly a speeding monster out of
control.
