accessing valve cover nuts & more

I just picked up a new/old GT and want to rejuvenate it,starting with some
basics.(I've looked over archive titles yet can't get my specific
answers.Please help on the following:)
On an '87 Coupe GT: what is the best way to tighten the 2 valve cover nuts that
covered by the intake manifold? (I'll get a book soon- just want to, quickly,
cap a minor leak)
Any advice on "money well spent" rejuvenating the "original feel". The
drivetrain is solid. Assume all the suspension parts & bearing to be original
with 130k miles (yes, I know, this one was extremely well kept-lucky me). CVs
replaced @ 80k. My intial parts budget= $500-$750.

Just curious: Were the Tresser Audis just nice body parts, or were there any
perf. mods?

Also, I,ve been following some of the tire talk and I add the following: I have
owned a set of Dunlop 8000s- they stuck real good, but I only saw 12k miles to
the wear marks and they really sucked in snow. A set of Bridgestone Potenza. RE
71 were slightly less sticky, but lasted 25k and were driveable in snow and
were quieter and rode smoother than the 8000s.

Thanks and glad to be "in".
