Re : A4 Quattro

If you like the looks and feel of the A4, and attracted to Audi Quattro
technology or AWD and want a mor unique car, even if you don't leave in snow
country other the annual few trips to the snow (i.e. like me), buy it.
Otherwise buy other makes. Stop worrying about reliability today (50000
miles/3 years is some time away) and pray that A4 is different from older
Audi models.

I bought a A4Q about 1 month ago. Before that I have the same concerns as
you (in addition to poor resale value and no lease incentive like BMW, Lexus,
Infinity, Acura, ..) and the BMW sales guy really hammer this issue to death.
I figure if the car starts to have problems after 3 years, will sell it and
take a loss. The extended (7 yrs/100000 miles) warranty is $2400. I did not
buy it because I believe it is based on old Audi models. My credit union
offers $2900 based on 90Q models. I did not buy the extneded warranty unless
it is $1000-$1500. I spoke to my friend in Germany who has a A6 and he said
both A4 and A6 have no usual reliability reports.

I put in almost 1000 miles in 3 weeks and no mechanical problem so far.
Enjoy it. Wish I could put in more miles but have been travelling (by air
instead of road) the last couple of weeks. Only "problems" are appearance
issues such as poor finishes on bottom parts of the car that can be seen
walking towards it, door bottoms have sharp corners, some imperfect paint
spots on the roof and scratches on the windscreen and poor fit and quality
carpets. Guess I am fuzzy when it is $30+k car.
