Q-Club

I have been considering joining the Q-club because I assumed it would be similar to
BMWCCA of which I have been a member since the late '70s. I don't know about any
internal struggles or politics within the BMWCCA, but I can tell you they don't charge
any more $ for membership, they have a fantastic monthly magazine (Roundel), their
annual Oktoberfest is really something. They are somehow doing it. Is it a matter of
shear numbers? Probably..more cash flow. But they are very good about publishing
financials and other required disclosures.

I have been an Audi owner for about 2 years and now own 2 of them. I personally think
Audi makes a better car than BMW. I had been reluctant to work on my own car due to
lack of knowledge about the car and no resource other than the dealer. This list and
the discussions on it have gotten me under the hood (trunk, really, replacing the
antenna) and in the interior, replacing the armrest internal parts. I wouldn't have
done it without this list. I did a lot of work on my 3.0CS when I first bought it (much
simpler car of course), but this was before the internet and the BMWCCA (and SIGs) WAS
the source of non-dealer information. My point is this: There is no other way that I
know of to get really good info about the cars themselves, or things related to cars
than this group because the current Q-club (apparently) doesn't serve the interests of
the members very well. I think the Q-club falls into the subject matter of this group
and I'm looking forward to hearing more so I can decide to join or not. How else would
I hear this stuff?

BTW, if it's just a matter of getting fresh people running the club, then let's put on
membership drive and elect new people. I did hear that although elections are a
requirement, nobody's heard of any lately, so perhaps the idea of an alternative club
might be an idea. The club should serve the members and if your 30+ bucks gets nothing,
then maybe it's time to do something else.
