As someone who works in the tax business -- specifically, the collection end
of the tax business (things like audit representation, Offers in Compromise,
penalty abatements, etc. ) -- I don't think Dan has anything to worry about.

Of course, if he's ever audited and the auditor wants to perform a lifestyle
analysis by comparing his checking account statements against his income, he
might have a difficult time explaining why so many people sent him gifts but
I wouldn't worry about that until it happens and even then, I wouldn't worry
very much.  ;^)
