5K TQ Exhaust Questions

My father has an 87 5K TQ that will soon need a new muffler on it.  One 
day I plan to buy this car from my dad and want to get him some good 
info on mufflers to put on it.  He is most concerned with the cost of 
the repair but I would rather find a good product and buy it for the 
car, because when I get it, I plan to modify it heavily so I might as 
well get a head start.
