Re: S4 factory oops!
My '93 S4 began making this outrageuos clunk when backing up or fast right
turning a month after I bought it last May, with 15k miles. Dealer had four
tries, no luck. One month post 3/96 warrantee ending date my local mechanic
tells me it sounds like the subframe.
Back to dealer..."Gee, the factory FORGOT to install the four bolts that hold
the lower right front control arm to the subframe." Up on the lift I can move
the assembly about 2" in all directions! The tires are perfect, so the area
rep says no problem, no risks of future probs(?) They installed the bolts,
and the best they'll do is put it on the new A4 allignment machine. If all
checks out I get nada.
Should I accept this or not? They wouldn't offer me an extended warantee on
the suspension, but I sure am worried after 37k of that thing slapping
around. Any suggestions about dealing with Audi on this (if deemed necessary)
are appreciated.
