Rear Fog Light & Clutch Slave Cylinder

Quattro Owners,

I have noticed that the new Audi's (Volvo's and Mercedes too) are being
shipped to the US with the rear fog lamp installed, previously this feature
was only available in Europe.

I believe that this is a good safety feature while driving in nasty weather.
So I ordered the factory switch for my 1987 5KQT, before I ran the wiring, I
jumped a hot wire to the left-rear brake light to test, I didn't expect all 3
rear brake lights to come on, but that's exactly what happened. I feel this
is related to the rear lamp control unit.

Since these cars were manufactured in Europe where the rear fog is probably
standard equipment, I bet that the rear lamp control unit is already
configured for it, but just disabled.

Has anyone tried this? Any suggestions?

Also, my cluth slave cylinder just bit the dust, I am going to attempt to
replace it this weekend, it isn't a complicated job, just looks like it will
be tough to get access to it. Does anyone have any suggestions to make the job
easier. I bought the slave cylinder from Rod at IPC for $55, the dealer
wanted $138, both parts are new and there is no rebuild kit available for this
part.

Thanks in Advance
Alan
