85 4ksq's ability

I purchased an 85 4ksq, against the advice of many, over a BMW320i several 
months ago and never regreted it. The primiary reason for the decision was 
the quattro technology; hence a few question concerning drivinging 
condition with the front differential, if it's even called a differential, 
locked-

1. With the fronts locked in sever wet weather, is there a speed 
limitation? Would this configuration be considered safer then just the awd 
config., say on the freeways? Should i even attempt this? Any do's and 
don'ts? I realize that the steering will be compromised a bit. Any help 
would be appreiated! (Thanks in adance.)
