The Valley Audi Association
Tucked away in the Green Mountains of Vermont is the Mad River Valley. With
a population of 6,000, there are roughly 150 Audis (99% of them Quattros
and, no, we ain't rich. We buy 'em when they're 4 years old from Southern
states).
We also have two full time independent Audi Shops in town. :)
Those Slaves of Audis in the Valley (I'll get to the "Associate Members" in
a minute) are invited to attend a gathering of the Clan at the Tucker Hill
Lodge on June the 5th at 6 PM. There will be "group" photo of the "founding
members," after which we will all repair to the Official Valley Audi
Association Clubhouse (downstairs in Gergio's Cafe) for a repast of hors
d'oeuvres (toasted BMW, fried QCUSA, Porche-Coursa tea-bisquits, and Audi
Plonk (grown, stomped, strained and bottled right in our own vinyards on the
side of Skagg Mountain), all for the startling price of $12/head. Those
that wish to may make reservations for dinner of Flatbread (glorified pizza,
baked in a real open wood-fired oven) $11/head or Gergio's Mother's Famous
Pasta with Pine Nuts (*Highly* recommended!)
Club Structure and Dues (Valley *resident* members)
There are no dues, no directors, no by-laws and no agenda. There is a
one-time fee of $5 for a small, engraved plate that gives your name, Audi
type and year. These will be screwed into the wall of the Official
Clubhouse and will remain there in perpetuity and/or until the Bank reposses
the property.
Dues, "Associate Members"
One time cost of $5 for engraved plate, no annual dues, but the first time
(only the first time) you walk into the Official Clubhouse, you must ring a
small bell situated on the bar, and every Valley Audi Association Member
who is present (or can get there in three minutes) will be served a drink at
the expense of yor, the visiting Associate Member.
To join, you may e-mail me or leave a message on my voice mailbox which is
802 496 8920 with your name, whether you will make the annual bash, and info
re your Audi(s). A check for $5 for your engraved plate (mandatory) should
be made out to Parrish Galleries--the folks that do the engraving--and sent
to Doug Terman, PO Box 318, Warren VT 05674.
I'm sure that some yo-yos will want to have awards for concourse d'elegance,
best restored quattro, most salt-knackered alloy wheels, etc. We will -- I
pray -- resist the temptation to got thusly organized, but , Hey--it's in
the hands of the Audi Gods.
