Door opening problems.

Okay, this is the situation for my 84 5000s:
 
On the rear passenger side door, it wont open from the inside OR outside. 
The window does'nt move. The cigarette lighter DOES work. 
 
Since I have to get to the lock mechanism, I have to get the panel off, 
which means I have to get the door open. (which I can't!)
 
I've been approached with two options: 
A> Break off the door handle.
B> Destroy the inside door panel and get a replacement.
 
Do I have to be so violent to my Audi?
