The Typical Audi, well maybe not...
My flight in from Colorado Springs landed me at Dulles at 5:00 yesterday
evening. I was looking forward to a nice, relaxing evening of unpacking &
soaking in alloe (Stapleton may not have been hot, but the sun was sure out.)
My sis picks me up in my TQ from the airport, A/C doesn't work, 100 degrees &
heaven konws what humidity. "Hey Mike, my Raudi is still over at my towneouse,
can we bring it home now?" Apparently social obligations (read barhoping &
hangovers) had her too busy over the weekend, so at rushour I got to drive the
heap home... Different story altogether (made it halfway, flatbed got it the
rest...) Upon arriving at the Townehouse, I popped the hood for a quick look
for the problem. Saw it instantly. The alternator had broken it's top mount
in two, and the lower allen bolt had backed all the way out, leaving the
alternator flopping about on the motor. No wonder it wouldn't start... This
afternoon I'll be heading over to HBL in hopes that those brackets are sitting
on the shelf. Guess maybe that alternator belt was just a *wee* bit too
tight...
