V8 Transmission Limp Home Mode

Well I have had two faults with my V8 that caused the limp home-takeoff 
in 4th gear and all lights are on mode.
1. You need the dealer to connect his VAG Computer to the little sockets
mounted under the front passenger footwell (covered by the floor mats).
This readout will tell you what is failing.

2. Most likely failure is a.Transmission Selector Switch, b. Reverse 
switch (secondary to "a"). c. Kickdown switch. d. Worse!

I replaced my selector switch once at cost then again under warranty.
$350!!!! No substitute!
