Good news about my stalling problem - I checked the Bentley and it 
calls for an idle speed of 720 RPM +/- 50.  Our indicated idle speed 
was about 450.  The idle screw is located right in the front of the 
intake manifold, on top.

Took three (counterclockwise) turns of the screw - and the idle was 
750 RPM.  My wife reports no stalling so far in normal driving.
