More sacrifices to the Audi gods;

I have justed installed an A/C compressor on my 87 5kCSTQ and when the 
clutch engages there is a whining noise that can only be heard inside 
the car.
The whine is in direct relationship to the RPM's.  

Is it possible that when they charged up the system the shop did not put 
enough lubricant in the refrig?
