1) fuel is VERY expensive it urrup compared to USA, so most autos have the smallest available engines
    for fuel economy reasons, etc

2) here in the USA imported German autos are perceived as 'prestige' makes, so they typically are loaded
    with all the power luxuries, largest engines, etc, that typical 'merican luxury car buyers expect, in urrup        Audis, bimmers, mercs, etc are as pedestrian as our chebbies and dorfs, used as taxis, etc, so they are        typically seen without all the luxocrap and big engines, etc
