Fix for wander after +1 wheels/tires?
Does anyone have any ideas for fixing excessive wandering, such as on a freeway
with even shallow ruts, my 4KQ wanders/veers badly. Can't even prevent with
steering inputs. A few facts:
-- I put on +1 wheels (15"x7" Borbet TypeH wheels instead of 14"x6" stock) and
1" wider tires, i.e. Dunlop D60A2 205/50-15's instead of 205/60-14's.
-- At the same time, I had every single wearable part in the suspension F&R
replaced with new bushings, tie rod ends etc. and 4-wheel alignment - since my
4KQ had a lot of miles on it.
-- Had the alignment re-checked 3 weeks later. The alignment shop says the
geometry change due to the +1 wheels/tires is too much and there's nothing to
be done. I don't understand how this can be the explanation since the tire
circumference is same as stock, and the Borbet TypeH offset is same as stock I
think. I have an AeroStar with +1 wheels and even wider D60A2 tires and it
still tracks like a champ on the same freeway ruts.
Maybe there's a non-standard alignment spec fix?
