RE: Clutch Pedal Noise

I had similar problems on my '90 CQ shortly after I bought it. Turned
out the "creeeeeeeaaaak" was coming from the clutch slave cylinder,
followed by the "thump" from the clutch pedal finally hitting its rest.
Replacement of the clutch slave cylinder fixed it. I found I could
isolate the "thump" by lifting the clutch pedal with my toe when I heard
the "creak", causing the "thump" myself. HTH.
