Maybe not the 02 Sensor after all
Despite the fact that all the symptoms on our V8 matched those of V8s with duff
O2 sensors it seems that we have a different problem. We have had someone spend
half the day examining our car including testing the O2 sensor. He has found
the O2 sensor to be faulty but the fuel pressure to be about 25% to high.
According to the Audi manual which he has this requires the fuel pressure
regulator (L50) and fuel injector rails for both banks of cylinders to be
changed (almost L700). The manual states that if the rails are not changed
there is a risk of engine explosion!
Our man contacted Bosch who recommended that he change the fuel pressure
regulator alone before investing big money in the rails. Hopefully this will
sort out our surging acceleration and cruising. Has anyone else had this
problem?
