Looking for OE alloy wheels (Audi 80)
Hi all,
With speeding tickets coming in frequently, I've decided against upgrading
my car's performance. It's hard enough to keep under 70mph as it is.
Instead I've decided to concentrate on external appearance.
Painting lower bumpers and mirrors in body colour should help, but I've
also decided that *now* is the time to ditch those bl**dy awful steel
wheels with plastic wheel covers that came as standard with my car (1988
Audi 80). I've considered my options and have decided to go for the factory
convex (Ronal?) 6J x 14 4-bolt wheels that were fitted to the Audi 80 as an
option and to the 90 as standard. These are not the most sporting or
aggressive-looking wheels, but at least I can park my car in sight of a
customer without him/her thinking I'm some kind of boy racer (wide wheels,
low profile tyres and spoilers have a really negative image here in
Holland) Besides, not having power steering kind of limits my choice in
tyre widths (parking is heavy enough with the original 175/14 tyres)
As I have quite a lot to my name but not a lot of money, I would like to
buy these wheels secondhand. Is there anyone on the list within shipping
distance of me with a set of these wheels in decent nick for sale? I don't
know if these wheels were available in the US or what shipping to Europe
would cost_ expensive I would think. For the graphics-capable Internet
users among you: I have a picture of these wheels I could e-mail to you.
I'm on a Mac and can send a GIF or JPEG.
Any comments on this will be appreciated!
TIA, Tom.

PS I will be leaving for the UK for a short vacation tomorrow, back by July
10th though.

Holly: Purple alert! Purple alert!
Lister: What's a purple alert?
Holly: Well, it's like not as bad as a red a alert, but a bit worse than a
blue alert -- sort of a mauve alert.
