200q oil hose (that's me they hosed!)
hey all..
Thanks for the info on where to shop for parts. I'm making a note of it for
future parts requirements. When I called the old man to let him know the bad
news about the price.. his response was "so...". Seems that my brother totalled
our 94 Mazda MPV, rolling it twice, and he could care less about the cost. Kid
made it out alright, with just a couple of bumps and bruises but his friend
riding shotgun had his hand crushed under the van. Needed the jaws of life to
cut open the van and get him out. He's got a broken wrist and multiple cut
tendons and lacerations, which will require some reconstructive surgery.
How did the van roll? Pardon the waste of space. He was cruising at a good
clip and was distracted for a second by something or another. Saw a curve
coming up too late, and slammed the breaks. Wheels locked and the rear end
swung out. He corrected the skid twice and probably would have pulled through
if he had taken his foot off the brake. Instead, the wheels caught while the
van was sideways. The extra ground clearance (high center of gravity) on the
4wd model probably didn't help much either. He's okay though, thanks to the
seatbelts.
So, seeing that my father didn't care about the price. I told my mechanic to go
for it. The supplier "forgot" to ship it out FEDEX so I'm still waiting for the
car to be done. Supposedly the part will come in this afternoon and the car
will be done at the latest tommorow. Meanwhile I'm busting my ass around Albany
on my cycle. making power the *REALLY* old fashioned way.
So here's the interesting questions: (1) how to get my brother out of the
moving violation ticket and (2) what to replace the MPV with? Funny thing is,
bro's first response to replacement was "how 'bout an audi Q? They don't roll
so easy..." :)
