My 87 Coupe with the 2.3 engine has the same thirst for oil. No leaks, no
blue smoke out the tailpipe. I'm interested in finding out more about this
too.

I had the windows of my 87 Coupe tinted when I lived in Dallas. "Dark as
legal?" was what the guy asked me and that's what it is. I like having tint,
especially at night, since it adds another degree of dimming the beacons from
late-model full size Ford pickups, which in the Coupe seem to be mounted just
over your shoulder. The tint is a shade or two lighter on the side windows
so the dimming effect is less for the outside rear-view mirrors, but still
welcome. I've had mine for over 3 years and the only problem is where I keep
nicking it with the seatbelt just above the driver's door lock button.
(Release the seatbelt sloowwwwwly...) The car is white and with the
predominantly black trim, the window tint makes it look even better.
