That loose feel is almost certainly worn bushings.

Mike LaRosa can back me up on this, having test driven each others
'89 100's.  I've had all my bushings replaced, and the car went from
typical rolly-polly old-car feeling to tight as a drum crispness.

Get those bushings replaced/swapped. You won't regret it.
