Re[2]: Coupe q - help with rear speakers...

Hi Ian, your Coupe must be different than mine. I don't have to
remove any of the trim around the rear window to get the panel off.
There is one screw in the door jam, two behind the outboard rear seat
cushion and one at the bottom near the floor behind the round plug.
After I remove these, the panel lifts up and out.

Get your screwdriver out. I'll try this from memory, so please forgive
any indiscretions. Tip - put the screws back in their holes as you
remove them, the size varies, it's a PITA trying to locate one that
fits, especially towards the end of re-installation.

Make a large clean area on your lawn/garage floor/sidewalk for the many
parts about to be disgorged from your car.

*** Remove the handle/lights over the windows (front and rear).
*** Remove the plastic trim over the top of the windows (front and rear).
*** Remove the vertical plastic trim between the windows that covers the
top of the seatbelts (leave it hanging by the seatbelt, but loose).

Remove the rear seat bottom.

Tip the rear seatback forward.

Remove the cushion outboard of the rear seatback.

You should now be able to get at all the screws holding the panel in.

I have Boston Acoustics separates in the back, with the midrange drivers
behind the panels (the tweeters are on the little shelf outboard of the
rear package shelf). I'm not sure about diameter behind the stock
grilles, but there is plenty of space for depth.

Have fun, it sounds worse than it is, should take about 15 minutes to
remove the panel, about 1/2 hour to put back. HTH.
