shrouded in air

Hi all,
I was getting the fuel system in the TQC installed this
weekend and noticed some differences between the
83 TQC system and the 89 200 system.

My original plan was to install everything using the 89
stuff, 89 FD, 89 injector lines, 89 injectors and 89 control
pressure regulator. But when placing the 89 fuel lines into
the location of the 83 FD on the sensor plate housing, the
fuel lines don't match up. Next idea was to just use the 83
fuel lines and the 89 air shroud injectors. I go and start doing
the injector swap, only to realize that the threads on the 83
injectors are a larger diameter than the 89 threads. No go
here.

For now I have decided to just stick with the 83 fuel system.
The only 89 piece is the control pressure regulator. At this point
I should be able to get the car started.

I have installed the 83 injectors into the 89 head which usually
holds the air shrouded jobbies. Looking at the injector mounts
in both heads, they seem the same. The only difference I can see
is the air shroud injectors have a wider tip with an o-ring for
sealing them. Sooo...

Why are these air shrouded injectors used? Whats the advantage?
Whats the difference between the systems other than the head of the
injector? Will OOOOWWWW-D win the national title?

I guess I've injected enough fuel q's for 1 day. Tonight it's on to
installing the oil cooler and rad hoses, oh boy.
