I don't understand this. THe wheel bearings are pressed into the wheel
bearing housing. The hub is pressed into the inner wheel bearing race.
And the axle splines mate to the inner hub splines and you are trying to
slide one set of splines out of the other. You should probably also
disconnect the lower ball joint so the strut will move outward. Mine was
already disconnected(along with the axle being disconnected from the tranny)
when I pulled my axles out last week. Also spray a bit of penetrating oil
in there. I have had great luck with the Pyroil stuff, everything has come
undone.
I guess if the strut couldn't swing and you were pressing using the hub,
the hub might try to pull out of the inner bearing mount.
