Re: Axel Shaft Pulling Exercises...
I've recently replaced all four wheel bearings on my 864KCSQ and never had
problems getting the splined axle shaft out of the hub. Now, pulling the hub
out of the bearings is another matter. I have a 10 ten press and I have made
the various sized things needed to do the job and have never had the inner
bearing race stick to the hub shaft ( did happen on my 85 JETTA- though). I
don't think you should have any problems pusing the splined shaft out of the
hub. I know that Bentley says to use a lot of locking compound on the
splines, but in my case there was very little left after 9 years and 150K.
