Stalling

My wife's 1990 200 is having a bad problem with stalling when it's 
started hot.  I just set the idle up to 750, but that's not helping.  
When cold, the idle does not drop - and after it has been driven a 
minute or two, it doesn't drop - but start it, back up, and PFFFT.

Does this sound like the dread **Idle stabilizer valve** to the 
collective list-wisdom????
