Received mine today, but I'll have to wait a few days to take mine in...

My cousin and I started to remove and replace my shot A/C blower motor this
weekend. Thanks to my new V8 service manual, we had all the confidence in
thw world. Well, all I can say is this - that @#$%^&* blower motor box is a
bear to remove. I don't even see how Audi managed to shoehorn that thing in.

Anyways we got the unit out and replaced the motor. The metal that the
brushes make contact with (sorry, I don't know these technical terms...) was
worn down about an 1/8th of an inch and the motor was caked with a burnt
dust residue.

With that done, now we just need to put everything back together. I have a
question though: Since we disconnected the coolant lines that go into the
heater core, this renders my car undriveable until reconnected, correct? Or
does coolant pass through only if I turn the heater on?

Also, my outside temperature LED would always flash for about a minute when
I would start the car. After looking through the manual, I found out it is
caused by a certain temperature regulation servo being out of calibration.
The book details how to correct this, so I plan on doing this also while I
have everything taken apart. This servo is behind a white, plastic housing
on the right (driver's) side of the blower motor housing. Has anyone else
needed this adjustment?

Well, enough rambling...may you fellow V8 owners have healthy blower motors
for many years to come, so you don't have to go through what I have ;-)
