At this point, I would use a voltmeter to confirm the output of the
ignition switch while cranking.  Just in case something weird is happening,
I would also try starting from the standard switch rather than your remote
switch.  Assuming nothing weird, the only difference while starting with
your remote should be the reduced voltage caused by the starter load on the
battery.  Checking it while starting would confirm that it is there and
high enough.

This almost sounds like high tension.  It's hard to believe that 12V would
cause such an effect.  Take a good look at the ignition harness.
