Re: Sage of Ur-Q WIthout a Spark
I'm no sage, but I have had a saga or two myself. I even had a Yamaha Sega
motorcycle once.
Regarding your problem:
Since it sounds like you have covered the most likely possibilities already,
I'll relate something else you may want to check out.
A similar problem occurred to my UrQ last winter. It was the ECU. It turned
out that there was a corroded foil on the printed circuit board. It was
underneath one of the chips and wasn't easy to spot. I believe it was an
address line. This was causing the spark trigger generated by the ecu to be
completely out of sync with what the engine needed. The gating of the hall
sensor with the "60 degrees BTDC" mark probably protected my engine from
nasty explosions.
I generated a mostly complete schematic during this experience which I can
E-mail to you later if you want. (I don't have it on this computer). A close
visual inspection of the ECU PCB may be called for. When I found corrosion,
I cleaned it off with a wet tooth brush, then flushed it with 90% Isopropyl
alchohol, and let it dry completely. I then cut away the corroded foil, with
a razor knife, and bypassed the foil with 28AWG insulated solid wire. Wire
wrap wire works well. After the repair was verified I coated the board with
two coats of KRYLON clear.
Hope this helps
