AoA and Parents' 100S

Fellow Q-listers:

I have some good news to report re: AoA. My parents' '93 100S has an oil
leak (sounds like a common prob w/ the V6) and PS hydraulic leak. It went
thru 1 liter of Pento$in in a week - not good. No transmission probs
contrary to my post about a month ago. They are leasing car and it went out
of warranty a few months ago. It has 46,000 on odo.

Actually, the car was a demo and when they leased it were told they were
getting 3/50,000 warranty. No disclosure that warranty started when the car
was "put into service" 6 months earlier. I told my dad to call AoA and ask
them to retroactively start warranty when they took delivery.

So my dad called yesterday and spoke to Jennifer and then an engineer (?)
named Pat Long. Dad mentions my CQ, my sisters 80, tells Pat that I'm on the
Q-list and mentions the UA litigation he handled for AoA. Pat is very
receptive and agrees to immediately handle the situation. The warranty has
been extended.

My dad also mention that they want to get the new A6 when this car comes off
lease next summer. Pat says the new A6 will be available next summer as a
'98 model. No other details - dad doesn't know what questions to ask. Pat
then tells dad that he's been driving an A8 for the past few weeks and says
it is "awesome." I've been hearing that word a lot in context of the A8.

So, cheers to AoA and Pat Long for being so helpful.
