A8s Coming for Olympics

Fellow Q-listers:

Just got back from dropping off parents' 100S at Jim Ellis Porsche/Audi (see
separate posting). Decided to check on A8 demos in Atlanta. Spoke to one C.
Gregory Stillion (Sales and Leasing Manager - Certified w/ Honors - #1
Porsche Sales Rep. in U.S. '93, '94, '95 - Porsche Premier Dealer) and was
given the following info:

1) They are getting 1 Eurospec A8 on 6/28 which is for display only. He told
me that b/c car is Euro it can't be driven (whatever!).

2) AoA is sending 40 A8s down for the Olympics. They already have a list (he
was actually holding it as we spoke) of who gets these demos. List includes
Mr. & Mrs. Bruce Willis, the Arnold, and other well-cultured auto enthusiasts
(but my name was conspicuously absent!).

3) Then asked about 1.8T. It's coming in Sept., but "it's not a turbo, it's
supercharged" (whatever! again). This lack of knowledge is made even worse
by the fact that Mr. Stillion claims to have driven the car in Europe.

4) New 2.8 30-valve V6 *is not* coming to U.S. (whatever!...). He seemed
quite sure of himself on this one.

I should have embarrassed this guy w/ his quite apparent lack of knowledge,
but decided instead to just play dumb. Sometimes that's more fun.

Seriously though, I can't believe that C. Gregory can be a decorated (or so
his business card claims) Porsche salesman and know so little about his other
products. He's either stupid, likes to talk s**t, or a liar. Probably a
combo of all three. I'm thinking about calling AoA to give them my feelings
on the subject.
