Re: 90 oxygen sensor
Hi all...
Tried R&Ring the O2 sensor in my 1988 90 today and ran into a couple problems.
First, I went out and sprung for a 22 mm box spanner only to find that there
isn't enought room to maneuver the damn thing around down there! So off to
Western Auto I go to buy an O2 socket. I get back, get underneath my car
and now find that there's some sort of friggin' heat shield above the cat
which hinders the socket from even fitting over the O2 sensor.
I think that "O2 tools" are like "Distributor Wrenches" -- those incredi-
bly "Dental-" (aka "Painful") looking contortions custom engineered to
match each vehicle (where each vehicle is custom engineered to ensure
that it has at least one unique tool requirement that no other vehicle
(except possibly a space shuttle or a nuclear aircraft carrier) has ever
thought of. Certainly the one [SnapOn] I've seen my mechanic use is in
that category. But damn, the right tool makes the job seem simple . . .
