If you needed 2 allignments in a short period,
something's wrong.  Audi's hold allignment VERY
well, particularly quattros.

For example, my 4000q was alligned TWICE in 186,000
miles (when new shocks were installed and when it was hit
on the left rear wheel).  Tire wear was about 35-50k per set,
and i had the allignment checked several times.

My present 90q20v has never been alligned (1991 / 93k miles).

I also doubt that allignment would kill a tire rapidly;
it sould cause gradual, easily recognized (characteristic) wear.
