wheel unbent
Tooke me bent lipped wheel down to the tire shop to have the tire unmounted
in preparation for shipping to wheel repair place. Casually asked they can
do anything for bent up wheels. The guy took a look at the bent lip. And
said:"Not today. But you can pick up monday."
So I told them to go ahead and give it their best shot.
Come Monday morning. I picked up wheel and it looked pretty darned
straight. Probably not perfect. But it keeps the tire on the rim and don't
jiggle at highway speeds.
Damage: $60. This includes the rebalancing job in which they took off 2
ounces of the original wheel weights. Not bad.
[Note to myself: Always put car in gear AND apply hand brake before jacking
up car. Especially if one is jacking up the front wheel.]
Anyone got a nice unbent Storz light alloy Audi emergency jack they want to
part with? Sigh!
Aluminum Alloys and I don't mix well together.
