coolant gauge

O Omnipotent Audi gods...  Uh, I forget myself...

My coolant temp gauge in my '89 200TQ is not working.  I have stopped the
leak which had been wetting the sensor with coolant.  I have replaced the
sensor and cleaned the connector.  I have checked the ECU connector for
broken/missing wires.  So far I have found nothing appearing wrong.

Additionally, the system check system continues repeatedly but
intermittently to report the symbol which means either overheating or low
coolant.  The car is not overheating.  The coolant level is right where it's
supposed to be.

Any suggestions other than continuing my supplications to the Audi gods?
