Breakin' in all-new brakes

Well, finally, the local dealer found something seriously wrong
with the front brakes on my '93 90CS. (Ordinarily, this would
not be something to rejoice, but I've had all manner of problems
which [to me, anyway] were obviously brake-related but they
never found anything wrong and hence would not do anything for me.)

They replaced the front calipers, rotors and pads, all under
warantee (the calipers would stick, the rotors were warped
and the pads just plain ol' shot).

I'm hopeful that all of this may cure my elusive and annoying
intermittent front-end shakes, too...

So... now I have lots of new hardware I need to break in nicely
before I head off to Watkins Glen in two weeks. If I understand,
the correct procedure is to warm the brakes gently with some
easy stops and then some full-out stops to bed things in (being
careful not to overheat, of course). Do I have this right? How
much is needed? 1-3 hard stops? 5-10?

On a related note, any advice for how to avoid trashing this
new hardware at the Glen? Last time I went down, the rotors
were slightly warped but they were pretty bent by the time I
left... Would drilled or slotted rotors help? Better pads?

(If all of this stuff wasn't covered by Audi, I'd seriously
look into upgrading some components... Any suggestions for
next time 'round?)
