RE: Replacement shocks for 4KQ
I would not do the Boge shocks again. I do not feel that they are performance
oriented at all. I can feel the wheels bounce when I am cornering at high
speed which leads me to believe that I need more dampening. The Koni's from
what I have heard are a much better shock for performance driving. I have
also heard very good things about the Sachs shocks so you might try to get
some input from someone who has them. There also is the Spax shocks that Rons
parts is selling but again I know nothing about them. I think if a more
controlled ride and high performance I would also get springs at the same
time. There are high performance springs that dont lower the car so consider
them.

Subject: Replacement shocks for 4KQ
Getting ready to replace the shocks on my 87 4KQ. I'll be driving on the
street
only, but I want a stiffer ride than stock. Probably won't do the springs
since
I'm not willing to give up ride height (too many speed bumps, craters, etc.)
I've searched through the archives and found some information, but not enough
for me to make a final decision.
I've come across four brands so far and would appreciate hearing list members
experience.
Boge: Turbo Gas seem very popular w/ list members, price very reasonable
Koni: those who have em, love em, but $$$$
KYB: alleged stiffer than Boge TG, priced between Boge and Koni
Bilstein: $$$, conflicting stories whether fitment is available for 4KQ
Are there any others that I missed?
